Attorney general's office investigates phone bill scam

Attorney General Steve Six is alerting consumers about possible unauthorized charges that might appear on their monthly telephone bills.

These charges are often listed as “enhanced services” and are billed on behalf of another entity that specializes in voicemail or e-mail services. The attorney general’s office has received more than 100 complaints in the past 12 months and is currently conducting an investigation.

Anyone who has received a similar charge should contact the attorney general’s consumer protection division at (800) 432-2310, where representatives will offer instructions on how to file an investigative request with the office.
