KDOT to resurface part of U.S. 183 starting Monday

A road construction job to seal a 14-mile section of U.S. Highway 183 south of Stockton will begin next week, according to the Phillipsburg office of the Kansas Department of Transportation.

Prime contracting firm Hi-Plains Sand Inc. of Kanopolis will start the resurfacing project on Monday. The process will smooth the road and fill surface defects that eventually can shorten the pavement life.

The job begins at the Kansas Highway 18 junction and extends north to the U.S. Highway 24 junction. Pilot cars will be used for the duration of the construction work, which is projected to wrap up by the week of June 23, weather permitting.
