Arrest made after search

Charges have been filed in Hays Municipal Court against a Hays man whose residence was searched in connection with multiple cases of burglary and theft.

The search warrant was executed Saturday afternoon at 3010 Limestone Court, and Michael Todd Alexander, 47, was arrested on suspicion of theft, possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia, according to Hays Police Chief Don Scheibler.

The arrest drew significant attention in the neighborhood because Hays Police Department's special situation and response team was on the scene at the time the warrant was executed, a decision Scheibler said was made for the "purpose of entering the home and securing the home."

There were no problems conducting the search.

"In the course of the investigation, information was developed that it was in the best interest to use the tactical team," Scheibler said.

He did not say what that information was or disclose what items were recovered during the search.

Alexander was issued a ticket through municipal court following his arrest.
