TMP baseball goes 1-1 in triangular

By The Hays Daily News

GREAT BEND -- The Thomas More Prep-Marian split its two contests at a baseball triangular in Great Bend.

The Monarchs (4-4) avenged a sweep earlier in the season against Scott City with a 7-2 victory Tuesday, but then lost 8-0 to undefeated Great Bend in the nightcap.

In TMP's win over Scott City, sophomore Kameron Schmidt (2-0) threw a complete game, allowing two earned runs on four hits and no walks while striking out eight.

Schmidt also led his team at the plate with two hits, an RBI and a run scored.

Against Great Bend, senior Shane Zimmerman (1-3) lasted five innings on the mound, surrendering four runs, three earned, off six hits and three walks while striking out three.

The Monarchs registered just two hits and a walk off Great Bend starter Tristan Hall.

Ryan Schippers and Braiden Werth were the lone Monarchs to register hits.
