WoO: Parsons Motorsports crew wins pit crew challenge

Spencer, IA--September 17, 2009--Danny Lasoski hopes that he never has to rely on his team changing a front axle in the work area during a race, but he knows that if does, they could easily get the job done in the allotted two minutes, after claiming the inaugural Arnold Motor Supply Pit Crew Challenge at Clay County Fair Speedway in Spencer, Iowa on Wednesday with a time of one minute and 25 seconds.

The team led by crew chief Barry Jackson along with Cody Jacobs and Pete Stephens stopped the clock nearly six seconds ahead of the next fastest team to earn the $700 top prize from Arnold Motor Supply along with a prize from Snap-on Tools.

"My guys are very good," said Lasoski. "We have a couple of news guys who have been here about two weeks. They practiced a little bit in the shop before we left to come over here today. I'm very proud of this entire Parsons Motorsports/ Casey's General Stores team. They have worked very hard all year."

After an 1800 mile driver from Chico, California back to Iowa following the Gold Cup Race of Champions over the weekend, Lasoski's team made a brief stop at their shop near Des Moines as they prepared for the Arnold Motor Supply Shootout at Clay County Fair Speedway.

"We actually did practice this a little bit this morning," shared Jackson. "We just brought two new guys on and with the long trip from California we didn't have a lot of time. I'm really proud of these guys, they have been working very hard."

The Parsons Motorsports team was the fourth of six teams to take to the clock. After Kerry Madsen's VerMeer Motorsports team kicked off the competition, Tony Bruce Jr.'s crew took the early lead with a time of two minutes and two seconds. Donny Schatz's team was the third one out and knocked a large chunk off this to take the lead with an elapsed time of one minute and 31 seconds, which would eventually be good enough to finish second and pick up $200.

When Danny Lasoski's team took to the clock they knocked off nearly six seconds from the fastest time and stopped the clock at one minute and 25 seconds. Jason Sides team finished third just a half second behind Schatz's crew to earn $100. Craig Dollansky's crew also took part in the competition.

"They don't get nearly enough recognition," noted Lasoski of his crew. "Barry Jackson does a phenomenal job with these race cars. They are the guys behind the scenes that make this go. I'm the lucky guy that gets to drive the car and gets the notoriety and attention, but those guys really deserve the credit."

Craig Dollansky and his wife Julie who was born and raised in Spencer, Iowa, again promoted the race this season and were instrumental in coordinating the inaugural Arnold Motor Supply Pit Crew Challenge with the help of Dave Kimbell from Arnold Motor Supply.

"Arnold Motor Supply really got behind it and it went very well for being the first year of it," said Craig Dollansky. "Everything seemed to go pretty smooth and there were some impressive times turned in by those crews. I think it was very successful."

Each team that participated received a door prize from Snap-on Tools.
