Leo M. Ludwig
Leo M. Ludwig, 86, Oakley, died Tuesday, July 24, 2012, at Logan County Hospital.
He was born March 19, 1926, Cheyenne Wells, Colo., to Math and Ethel (Adams) Ludwig. He attended the Catholic school and was a 1943 graduate of Cheyenne Wells High School.
He married Lillie McGowan on May 4, 1947, in Goodland. He worked for the local IH dealer, C.D. Clark and Sons, for 40 years. He was a U.S. Navy veteran.
He was active in many civic and school endeavors. He served for two terms on the Oakley City Council and served as city treasurer for 34 years. He served on the St. Joseph Parish Council for many years until retirement in 1989.
Survivors include his wife, of the home; four sons, Richard Ludwig and wife, Nancy, Gardner, Ronald Ludwig and wife, Mary, Denver, Stephen Ludwig and wife, Debbie, Lenexa, and James Ludwig and wife, Carol, Andover; two daughters, Paula Naden and husband, Dan, Gardner, and Katie Bollig and husband, Joe, Pueblo West, Colo.; 15 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Theodore, James and Joseph; and a sister, Ione.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Joseph Catholic Church; burial in the church cemetery. Cremation was chosen. Doors will open at 6 p.m. Friday at Baalmann Mortuary, Oakley.
A vigil/rosary will be at 7:30 p.m. Friday at the mortuary.
Memorials are suggested to St. Joseph Catholic Church in care of the mortuary.
