MAIZE -- The Thomas More Prep-Marian girls' soccer team (1-12) was overwhelmed on the road Thursday against Maize South.

The Monarchs lost 9-1.

Maize South freshman Aspen Loe scored a hat trick, and freshman Ryann Burnett had a pair of goals and a pair of assists in the win.

TMP contained Maize South in the first half, surrendering just three goals, but fatigue set in during the second half as the Monarchs gave up six goals.

TMP junior Kelsy King scored the team's lone goal on a free kick from 20 yards out in the 67th minute. Her shot spun off the tips of the goalkeeper's hands into the goal.

Junior Andie Marsell shared the goalkeeping job with Sarah Gustin. Marsell had 20 saves, while Gustin had six.

The Monarchs' regional tournament will be seeded Saturday.
