Theresa M. 'Terry' Meier

Theresa M. "Terry" Meier, 84, Hays, died Thursday, April 12, 2012, at Hays Medical Center.

She was born Nov. 9, 1927, in Missouri and was raised by the Joe Weber family in Ellis.

She married Milton E. Meier on Oct. 7, 1946, in Ellis. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She was a homemaker while her children were growing up. She later worked as a cook and baker at Lincoln Elementary School in Hays for 11 years.

She enjoyed baking. Family, friends and acquaintances enjoyed her cinnamon rolls and bierocks.

She was a member of Christian Mothers of Antonino and the Our Lady Help of Christians Catholic Church, Antonino.

Survivors include her husband, of the home; three sons, Howard Meier and wife, Jane, Great Bend, Douglas Meier and wife, Virginia, Olympia, Wash., and Steven Meier and wife, Carla, Hays; a daughter, Susan Kay May and husband, TR, Hays; 10 grandchildren, Patrick Meier and wife, Dianna, Christy Phlieger and husband, Cory, Amy Herrington and husband, Brett, Kelly Moeder and husband, Paul, Wendy Halvorsen and husband, Mike, Craig Meier and wife, Mandy, David Meier, Mark Meier, Trevor May and wife, Kristie, and Tara May; and 14 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by nine brothers, Paul, Frank, Leo, Carl, Joseph L., Engelbert, Ambrose, John J. and Herman Weber; and six sisters, Frances Neuberger, Barbara Schafer, Sophie Brown, Anna Yoder, Cecelia Weber and Mary Beer.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Our Lady Help of Christians Catholic Church, Antonino; burial in the church cemetery.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday and from 9 to 9:30 a.m. Saturday, both at Hays Memorial Chapel Funeral Home, 1906 Pine.

A Christian Mothers rosary will be at 6:30 p.m. Friday, followed by a vigil at 7:30 p.m., both at the funeral home.

Memorials are suggested to Our Lady Help of Christian Catholic Church, Antonino, or Thomas More Prep-Marian High School in care of the funeral home.
