Zelma Mae Reed

Zelma Mae Reed, 95, Colby, died Wednesday, Feb. 8, 2012.

She was born Sept. 11, 1916, in rural Thomas County to Melville and Lula (Burg) Bever. She attended Olive Branch Grade School and was a 1934 graduate of Colby High School.

She married Burtis Reed in October 1939. He preceded her in death in 1978. She was a lifetime resident of Thomas County, an accomplished artist and a great cook.

She was a member of Colby United Methodist Church.

Survivors include two sons, Robert Reed and wife, Kay, Stockton, and Keith Reed and wife, Karen, Monument; a daughter, Kathleen Bryan and husband, Robert, Rochester Hills, Mich.; her daughter in-law, Virginia Reed, Houston; five grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Ronald Reed; and eight brothers and sisters.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Baalmann Mortuary, Colby; burial in Beulah Cemetery, Colby.

Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday at the mortuary.

Memorials are suggested to Colby United Methodist Church in care of the mortuary.
