A driver fell asleep on Interstate 70 early this morning, causing a crash approximately 3 miles west of the Yocemento Avenue exit.
According the Kansas Highway Patrol, Sydney A. Kissee, 22, Clinton, Mo., was driving a 2016 Jeep Grand Cherokee west when she fell asleep just before 3:30 a.m. and ran into the back of a 2014 GMC Terrain driven by Sandrella S. Kelly, 51, Colorado Springs, Colo. Both vehicles ended up in the north ditch.
Kelly and her passenger, Anistashia A. Ivy, 13, Colorado Springs, were taken to Hays Medical Center with injuries, according to the KHP report. Kissee and her passenger, Bradley J. Bramell, 21, Colombia, Mo., were not injured.
All were wearing safety restraints, according to the KHP.
