The Kansas Department of Transportation has started a resurfacing project on a portion U.S. Highway 83 in Decatur County beginning at the Kansas Highway 383 junction near Selden and extending approximately 10 miles north.

Project work includes a 2-inch heat scarification to improve the surface profile, followed by application of a chip seal. Traffic will be reduced to one lane, with a 15-foot width restriction and controlled by flaggers and a pilot car during daylight hours. Minor delays not exceeding 15 minutes should be expected.

Dustrol Inc. is the primary contractor for the project, with a total contract cost of $688,000. Work is expected to be completed by the beginning of September, weather permitting.
