A man was shot by a Decatur County Sheriff's deputy following an altercation reported in rural Decatur County on Thursday night.
The county dispatch received a call at 8:44 p.m. asking for assistance for a domestic disturbance. After arrival, officers encountered a male suspect with a gun.
The man pointed the gun at a sheriff's deputy, and another deputy then fired a shot at the suspect, striking him, according to a press release from the Decatur County Sheriff's office.
The suspect was transported to Decatur County Hospital by ambulance. There is no report of his condition, and the man has not been identified.
The incident is under investigation by the Kansas Bureau of Investigation. Troopers from the Kansas Highway Patrol assisted sheriff's deputies at the scene.
