The McPherson American Legion Post #24, located at 401 N. Main St., will host National Commander Denise H. Rohan on her four-day tour of Kansas with a dinner at 5:15 p.m. Sept. 26 at the post home.

Rohan will visit 18 posts in Kansas while in the state.

Rohan was elected national commander of the two million-member American Legion on Aug. 24 this year in Reno, Nevada during the 99th national convention.

Rohan enlisted in the U. S. Army in 1974 and served on active duty until her release in 1976.

She served as a stock control and accounting specialist, and repair parts specialist course instructor at Ft. Lee, Virginia. Her assignments took her to Alabama and Virginia.

She joined Sun Prairie Post #333 in Sun Prairie, Wisconsin in 1984.

After her discharge, she was employed by the University of Wisconsin-Madison as the assistant bursar of student loans until her retirement in 2012.

Rohan served as state commander of the Wisconsin American Legion. She has served at every level of the American Legion.

Rohan resides in Verona, Wisconsin with her husband Mike. They have one son, Nicholas and two grandchildren.
