OAKLEY — A truck jackknifed Monday night on Interstate 70 near Oakley after the driver tried to avoid hitting another vehicle.
According to the Kansas Highway Patrol, a 2007 Honda Civic driven by Gary B. Wesler, Lakewood, Colo., was eastbound approximately 6 miles east of Oakley shortly before 9 p.m. Monday when he suddenly slowed.
Jesus M. Cardenas-Murrieta, 43, Mexicali, Baja California, was following in a 2013 Freightliner. Unable to slow quickly enough, he over-corrected and went off the right side of the highway, striking the Honda.
Both drivers were taken to Logan County Hospital in Oakley.
