A former Victoria Junior/Senior High School coach and teacher has been charged in Ellis County District Court on suspicion of indecent liberties with a child between the ages of 14 and 16 and lewd fondling, a level five felony.
Jordan M. Ottley had his first appearance in criminal court Tuesday morning. The hearing was scheduled for 9 a.m. and moved up to 8:30.
Ottley is no longer on staff at the junior/senior high school. According to the school’s 2016 to 2017 activity calendar, Ottley taught junior/senior high school math and was the assistant high school boys’ basketball coach for the year.
A status hearing has been set for 10:15 a.m. Dec. 12. Ottley is represented by Wichita attorney Salvatore Intagliata, who appeared by phone conference for Tuesday’s proceedings.
The alleged violation occurred Nov. 1, 2016, according to legal documents. The location of the incident is listed as the Victoria Junior/Senior High School building, 1107 W. 10th.
Charges were not filed against Ottley until Oct. 2 and are brought by the Ellis County Attorney’s office.
