A two-vehicle accident Friday morning in Phillips County killed an Iowa woman, with three others hospitalized for injuries.

Jolene Wennekamp Nikl, 61, Ankeny, Iowa, died at the scene of the accident, which occurred on U.S. Highway 183 eastbound near mile marker 234, 7 miles south of Alma, Neb. Nikl had pulled her 2012 Hyundai Elantra onto the right shoulder to make a u-turn, but was struck by a freightliner driven by Georbis Santa Montengro, Houston.

One of Nikl's passengers, Larry Douglas Nikl, 69, Ankeny, was disabled from his injuries, according to a report from the Kansas Highway Patrol. He was taken to CHI Health Good Samaritan. Kristina Nikl, 26, Ankeny, was taken to Harlan County Health System for injuries.

Aymara Rodriguez, 35, Houston, also was taken to the county hospital for injuries. Montengro was not injured. All involved were wearing seatbelts, according to the report.
