SMITH CENTER — A two-vehicle accident sent at least one person to a hospital Thursday evening in Smith County.
According to the report by the Kansas Highway Patrol, a 1998 Lincoln Continental driven by Cathi F. Barr, 57, Smith Center, was driving east on U.S. Highway 36 when she slowed down without using a turn signal. Her vehicle was struck from behind by a 2008 Ford Escape driven by Colby M. Benoit, 16, Esbon.
The impact caused the Lincoln to skid into a circle and strike the Ford in the rear.
Barr and a passenger, 54-year-old Everett R. Barr of Smith Center, were taken to Smith County Hospital with possible injuries. Cathi Barr was listed as not wearing a seat belt, while Everett Barr was listed as wearing a safety restraint.
Benoit was listed as having possible injuries and was wearing a seat belt.
