ELLIS — Ellis County Sheriff Ed Harbin said Tuesday two separate investigations are ongoing regarding reports of possible sex crimes involving underage victims.

The sheriff’s department on Jan. 19 received three reports of possible criminal activity involving the same suspect and victim, a 13-year-old, Harbin said.

The reports include indecent liberties with a child, which allegedly occurred Nov. 22 in the 500 block of Dorrance, and sodomy, which allegedly occurred Dec. 1 in the 1700 block of West Monroe.

A terroristic threat also was reported when the suspect allegedly began threatening to harm the victim and another individual, Harbin said. The threat was allegedly made Dec. 19.

All three incidents were delayed reports made to the Ellis Police Department on Jan. 5, with the sheriff’s office receiving the case Friday.

The investigation is ongoing, but charges are expected to be filed with the county attorney’s office, Harbin said. No arrests have been made at this time.

A separate investigation led by the Ellis Police Department also is ongoing due to the report of a separate allegation of indecent liberties with a child, involving a second suspect and victim who both are juveniles, Harbin said.

That incident allegedly took place in a rural area of the county, he said.
