Two Hays residents were charged in Ellis County District Court on Friday morning for allegedly promoting the sale of sexual relations. The arrests were made at a Chinese massage parlor at 1700 Vine.
Qin Yao, a 54-year-old female, remains in Ellis County Jail facing charges of promoting the sale of sexual relations/employed to perform sexual acts, which is a level nine, person felony, Ellis County Attorney Tom Drees said Friday. She also faces a charge of selling sexual relations, a misdemeanor. Both incidents allegedly occurred Jan. 31. She is being held on a $5,000 cash-only bond.
Ya Dong Wen, a 49-year-old female, also was arrested and is facing charges of promoting the sale of sexual relations by permitting her property to be used where sexual relations are being sold. That’s also a level nine, person felony, with the offense allegedly occuring Jan. 31.
Wen also faces a second count of selling sexual relations — a misdemeanor — which allegedly occurred in August. Her bond is set at $7,500 cash only.
The arrests were made as a result of an ongoing investigation by the Hays Police Department and Kansas Bureau of Investigation.
The case is expected to continue through district court. Suspects are considered innocent until proven guilty by a court of law.
