A man who died in a crash early Friday morning has been identified as Mathew V. Guffey, 44, Hays.
According to a press release from the Ellis County Sheriff's Office, Guffey had been traveling south in the 2800 block of 130th Avenue in a white 1999 Ford Ranger when he entered the west ditch. The pickup became airborne after striking a field entrance then rolled several times before coming to rest on its wheels in the west ditch.
First responders were dispatched to the scene at approximately 12:41 a.m. after a passerby reported the crash. Guffey was pronounced dead at the scene.
He was the only occupant of the pickup. He was wearing a seatbelt, according to the release.
A 44-year-old Hays man died from injuries he received in a one-vehicle crash early this morning, according to a press release from the Ellis County Sheriff’s Office.
The crash was reported by a passerby at 12:34 a.m. in 2800 block of 130th Avenue. The driver was the only occupant of the vehicle and was wearing a seatbelt, according to the release.
The crash is still under investigation. The man’s name is being withheld, pending the notification of family.
