RUSSELL — A Russell man died from injuries received in an ATV crash in the city Monday afternoon.

According to the Kansas Highway Patrol, Timothy A. Burris, 25, was southbound on a 2007 Polaris four-wheeler at approximately 4:48 p.m. in the 200 block of North Brooks Street.

As he approached the intersection of Second and Brooks, he hit the brakes and lost control, according to the KHP. The four-wheeler rolled onto its side, throwing Burris from the vehicle. Both skidded southbound on Brooks, coming to a stop in the road.

Burris was taken to Russell Regional Hospital, where he died.

The city of Russell allows ATVs to operate on city streets if they are registered and licensed with the city and the driver has a valid driver’s license.
