ANDOVER — The Hays High softball team earned a split in the Andover Triangular on Tuesday, falling 10-2 to Andover before bouncing back with a 7-6 win over McPherson.

Hays (3-1) trailed McPherson 6-5 in the seventh inning before Brooke Denning singled on a 3-2 count, driving in the tying and go-ahead runs.

The Indians spotted McPherson four runs in the bottom of the first but answered with four runs in the top of the second with Reanna Harman, Kaitlyn Brown and Cassidy Prough driving in runs in the inning.

Denning, Harman, Madelyn Waddell and Mackenzie Fagan each had two hits for the Indians in the win.

Jaysa Wichers picked up the win in the circle, allowing seven hits and six runs.

In the first game, Andover scored a run in the first before breaking it open with a six-run third inning. Brown went 2 of 3 at the plate for the Indians.

The Indians will play two games in the Maize Triangular on Thursday.
