RUSSELL — A Wyoming man was injured when his vehicle ran off the interstate Saturday afternoon near Russell, crashing through a fence and eventually hitting a tree.

According to the Kansas Highway Patrol, Pat W. Kury, 49, Cheyenne, Wyo., was driving a 2011 Nissan Rogue eastbound on Interstate 70 at 2:30 p.m. about 12 miles east of Russell when the vehicle went off the south side of the road into the ditch.

It went through a barbed-wire fence, crossed Old U.S. Highway 40, then went airborne and entered a pasture, landing on its wheels. The vehicle continued southeast, struck a tree and rolled onto its roof.

Kury was taken to Russell Regional Hospital. He was wearing a safety restraint, according to the KHP.
