The Thomas More Prep-Marian softball team eased past Ellinwood for a doubleheader sweep, picking up 10-0 and 22-0 wins on Thursday at TMP.

The Monarchs (9-3) compiled 31 hits during the twin bill while holding Ellinwood to just two.

“It was good to see some hard swings and some good cuts up there,” TMP coach Melissa Schoepf said. “We’ve been working on being really aggressive at the plate with the first pitch and trying not to get down in the count as much. It was good to see them going up there aggressive.”

Kyleigh Allen led the Monarchs with three hits and a home run in the first game. Allen and Anna Gottschalk each had four hits in the second game, and Gottschalk drove in six runs.

Bailey Lacy pitched both games for TMP, tossing 10 shutout innings.

In game two, TMP scored five runs in the first inning, 11 in the second and six in the third, forcing the run rule.

TMP will play host to Goodland on Tuesday.

“We’re definitely going to have to be ready to play next week and control what we can control,” Schoepf said.
