GOODLAND — The Thomas More Prep-Marian softball team is headed to the Class 3A state tournament for the third straight year.
The Monarchs punched their ticket to state with an 8-1 win over Colby in Tuesday's regional final at Goodland.
TMP also cruised in the regional semifinal earlier in the day, run-ruling Sublette 10-0.
Monarchs' pitcher Bailey Lacy had a combined 29 strikeouts on the day and surrendered just three hits and one walk while going the distance in both games for TMP.
The Monarchs moved to 17-5 season heading into the 3A tournament, which will be held May 24-25 at Twin Oaks Complex in Manhattan.
TMP was tied at 1 with Colby in the bottom of the fifth when M.K Dwyer delivered a go-ahead RBI double and then came around to score after Emily Schulte's single.
The Monarchs broke it open with five runs in the sixth, highlighted by a three-run double from Schulte.
Dwyer, Schulte and Anna Gottschalk each had two hits for TMP.
In the regional semifinal, TMP got on the board with a run in the third, scored five in the fourth and tacked on four more in the sixth to force the run rule.
Emilee Augustine had two doubles in the semifinal win and drove in four runs.
