DODGE CITY — The Hays Larks fell 5-3 to the Dodge City Athletics on Wednesday night, dropping to 12-4 on the season and 6-3 in the Jayhawk League.
The Larks led 3-2 before giving up three runs in the bottom of the seventh.
Walter Pennington earned a no-decision on the mound, allowing two runs and four with three strikeouts in 5.2 innings of work for the Larks. After Ryan Ruder got into a jam in the seventh, Ryan Kotulek gave up a two-run triple to Adam Hollar that gave the A’s the lead for good.
Hays got on the board in the top of the fourth on an RBI double from Cole Solomon.
The A’s took a 2-1 lead with two runs in the bottom of the fifth on an RBI groundout and Larks’ throwing error.
The Larks got two runs in the top of the sixth on RBI doubles from Easton Kirk and Solomon before giving up three runs in the seventh.
The Larks will host the A’s at 7 p.m. Thursday at Larks Park.
