UPDATE: Westbound I-70 in downtown Topeka reopens 16 hours after crash; 2 hospitalized

A semitrailer rollover blocked much of Interstate 70 in downtown Topeka Wednesday night.

The crash occured between the 10th and 8th street exits on I-70 just before 9 p.m.

The semi rolled onto its side as it was traveling west on I-70. Authorities blocked traffic at the I-70/Adams Street on ramp.

Debris from the semi spanned from under the 10th Street overpass to near the 8th Street exit. Part of the semi was wrapped around a column beneath the 10th Street overpass, and some debris went over the concrete barrier, blocking the inside eastbound lane of I-70.

No further information was immediately available as authorities worked to clear the roadway.
