DERBY — It was an eventful Saturday for the Hays Larks.
The Larks finished out Friday night's weather-suspended game by claiming a 2-0 win in the 11th inning over Derby, and then beat the Twins by a staggering 26-1 margin in the regularly scheduled game.
Hays improved to 15-4 overall and 9-3 in the Jayhawk League. The Larks are in first place in the league by winning percentage points over the Liberal BeeJays, who are 12-6.
Easton Kirk delivered a two-run home run shortly after the suspended game was resumed to put the Larks in control. Wyatt Divis closed out the bottom of the 11th on the mound for Hays.
In the next game, the Larks outhit the Twins 26-3 and opened up a 20-1 lead after a 10-run sixth inning. Michael Anastasia, John Rensel, Cole Solomon and Daryl Myers each homered for Hays.
Rensel went 6 for 6 at the plate with five runs driven in.
Sunday's scheduled game at Derby was postponed due to weather and rescheduled for July 14 as part of a doubleheader.
