WaKEENEY — A Goodland man has been charged with aggravated indecent solicitation of a child under 14 in Trego County District Court.
A press release from Trego County Attorney Chris Lyon said the charge against Eric Clayville, 42, stems from an investigation into an incident that occurred near the swimming pool at about 5 p.m. Tuesday.
The WaKeeney Police Department posted on its Facebook page that night a man stopped his vehicle next to a girl and offered her a ride home. The girl declined the offer, and police were contacted.
The individual was located with the assistance of the Trego County Sheriff’s Office and the Kansas Highway Patrol and taken to the WaKeeney Law Enforcement Center, where he was interviewed by WaKeeney Police Chief Ashley Garza. It was discovered Clayville is a registered sex offender.
He is in the Trego County Jail on a probation violation after a first appearance Wednesday before Magistrate Judge Richard Flax.
According to the Kansas Bureau of Investigation sex offender registry, Clayville was convicted in October 2016 for felony sexual exploitation of a child in Sherman County.
