GREAT BEND — The Hays Larks won another one in extra innings, pushing their win streak to six in the process.
In a game that lasted four and a half hours, the Larks exploded for seven runs in the 13th inning to take a 14-7 win Tuesday night over the Great Bend Bat Cats.
The Larks moved to 21-5 overall and 15-4 in the Jayhawk League to strengthen their hold on first place.
Hays took a 5-2 lead into the bottom of the sixth before Great Bend scored four to take the lead. The Larks knotted it up in the seventh on a run-scoring single from Clayton Rasbeary.
The Larks got a run off an error in the top of the 11th but Great Bend answered with a run in the bottom of the inning to keep the game going.
Ryne Randle drove in the go-ahead run in the 13th with a single. Wyatt Divis and Jacob Boston each had two-run singles to break it open.
Randle, Rasbeary and John Rensel Jr. had three hits apiece and the newly-acquired Boston homered for the Larks.
Larks' starter Carlos Tavera went five innings, allowing five runs on six hits while striking out eight. Shane Browning earned the win in relief, giving up a run in 3.1 innings of work.
The Larks will play host to the Bat Cats at 7 p.m. Wednesday at Larks Park.
