LAKE MARY, Fla. — Fort Hays State's Taylor Rolfs has been selected to play for the USA D-II Women's Basketball team during a 10-day tour through Brazil.
The team will play a four-game schedule against professional teams near Sao Paulo and Rio De Janeiro. Rolfs, one of five MIAA players chosen to play, will meet with the team in Orlando, Fla., for team orientation on July 30. The first game will be Aug. 1.
Rolfs averaged 8.1 points as a sophomore last season for FHSU, which went 26-7 overall and 14-5 in the MIAA and reached the second round of the NCAA Tournament before falling to eventual national champion Central Missouri.
Rolfs will reunite with former high school teammate Reagan Phelan on the USA D-2 team. Phelan, who is entering her junior season at Washburn, and Rolfs helped Central Plains win three consecutive Class 2A state championships.
The USA D-2 team will be coached by Central Missouri's Dave Slifer, and UCM's Sydney Crockett, Morgan Fleming and Megan Skaggs will also play for the squad.
