The Fort Hays State men's soccer team was picked to repeat as conference champions in the MIAA preseason coaches poll released on Tuesday.

The Tigers won the MIAA last year with a 7-1 conference record and went 11-6-2 overall. They advanced to the regional final last year before falling to Northeastern State, missing out on a bid for their fourth straight regional championship.

Northeastern State was picked second followed by Lindenwood.

Brett Parker enters his eighth season at FHSU with a record of 83-38-16, guiding the Tigers to six consecutive NCAA Tournament appearances.

FHSU returns 17 players that saw action last year including five All-MIAA picks — forwards Abdoulaye Cisse and Raul Fierro, defenders Luis Torres and Caesar Jones and midfielder Tobias Patino.

Fort Hays will open the regular season at 7 p.m. on Aug. 31 when the Tigers play host to McKendree University.
