Catherine Arline Rues, 91, died Aug. 28, 2018.

She was born July 3, 1927, on the family farm in Edwards County to Ernest and Mary A. Ingraham. She graduated from Lewis High School in 1945 and obtained a bachelor’s degree in music from Bethany College in Lindsborg in 1949.

She married Albert L. “Al” Rues on May 23, 1953, in McCracken. He proceeded her in death on March, 23, 1979.

She taught music in McCracken, Marquette, Browne, Ransom, Bazine, Pawnee Heights and Kinsley. She was a long-time member of Delta Kappa Gamma Society of International Women Educators. She performed in New York City with the Bethany Oratio Society at Carnegie Hall in 1997.

She is survived by three daughters, Alicia Rues and her husband, Leigh Barrett, Rosemary Diehl and her husband, Les, and Catherine Casey and her husband, Ron, all of Topeka; three sons, Timothy Rues, Lecompton, Thomas Rues, Concord, N.H., and Anthony Rues and his wife, Tomi, La Crosse; nine grandchildren, Celeste Pavlich, Catherine, Alex and John Casey, Madeline and Lily Rues, Shelby Bowers, and Emma, Kate and William Rues; and a great-granddaughter, Alexis Pavlich.

She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; a sister, Idris Fell; and a brother, O. Wayne Ingraham.

Services will be 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Mary Catholic Church, McCracken; a graveside service will be at 4 p.m. Saturday at Trotter Cemetery south of Lewis. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. Friday with a vigil service and rosary at 7 p.m. at Janousek Funeral Home, La Crosse, and 9 to 9:50 a.m. Saturday at the church.
