The Hays USD 489 school board will continue to form its goals for the fiscal year when it meets for a regular meeting at 6:30 p.m. in the Toepfer Board Room of the Rockwell Administration Center, 323 W. 12th.
The board has identified four main areas for its goals for 2018-19:
• Design a stable financial structure that allows the district to accomplish its educational mission, which includes designing professional pathways for staff and administration and providing competitive compensation for all employees.
• Create an educational improvement guide utilizing the Kansas Educational Systems Accreditation process, including accomplishing accreditation, increasing education opportunities of civc engagement and service learning and improving district management and structure.
• Cultivate relationships with families, other educational organizations, businesses, and government agencies, including improving relationships with private schools, the community and businesses.
• Develop a plan to prepare our district’s facilities for the future including a bond proposal, updating facilities and improving infrastructure.
The board will also review mandatory changes to the administrative handbook regarding school crisis drills and hear an update on enrollment numbers.
