Trailing 1-0 at the end of the first half, the Hays High School soccer team couldn’t muster much against a strong wind in the second, falling 3-0 to visiting Dodge City on Thursday.

It was the third straight shutout defeat, the second straight for Hays High at the hands of a WAC opponent.

on Monday, Hays High lost to Great Bend, 3-0, after surrendering three second-half goals.

This time, Dodge took a 1-0 lead into halftime, then tacked on the second in the 78th minute, then scored the final goal in the final two minutes.

The loss dropped Hays High to 3-4 overall and 0-3 in WAC play ahead of Tuesday’s road match against Great Bend. 

Chin, TMP win Larned Invitational

LARNED — Led by another individual title from senior Shannen Chin, the Thomas More Prep-Marian girls golf team claimed the Larned Invitational on Thursday.   The Monarchs tied for the third-best team score in program history with a 377, 16 shots ahead of second-place Larned. There were six teams and 31 golfers participating.   Chin won with a 79, five strokes better than Maleigha Schmidt of Hoisington. Haleigh Spray was third with a 90 and Jenna Romme was seventh with a 99.   Abby Heimerman (109) and Annie Wasinger (126) rounded out the TMP scoring. Avin Inlow missed the tourney due to scholarship testing.   The next tourney for TMP is Monday at Colby.   Hays High volleyball drops three    GARDEN CITY — The Hays High volleyball team went 0-3 in the Garden City Invitational, dropping matches to Pratt (20-25, 20-25), Ulysses (22-25, 20-25) and Garden City (17-25, 21-25).   Tasiah Nunnery led the Indians on the day with 33 kills while Hannah McGuire had 40 assists and Kallie Leiker had 29 digs.    The Indians fell to 4-7 on the season. They will play in Wamego on Sept. 22.
