LIBERAL — The Hays High girls golf team claimed first place at the Liberal Invitational on Thursday, led by Brittani Park’s second-place finish in the 9-hole tournament.

Park carded a 42, one shot back of individual champion Alyssa McMillen of Garden City.

Emily McGuire was fourth for Hays with a 46 while Sophia Garrison was fifth with a 48 and Taleia McCrae was sixth with a 49.

Hays finished with a 186 as a team, 15 shots ahead of second-place Garden City.

Hays High girls cross country wins at McPherson

MCPHERSON — The Hays High cross country placed five runners in the top 12 to win the McPherson meet on Thursday.

Landri Dotts led the Indians with a third-place finish in 23:07. Yesenia Maldonado was sixth (23:55), Allison Shubert was ninth (24:43), Lainey Hardman was 10th (24:52) and Cristina Leos was 12th (25:05) for the Indians.

In the boys race, the Indians had two runners earn medals. Johnny Fuller was 10th (19:58) and Brayden Hines was 13th (20:27).

TMP competes at Larned Invitational

LARNED — The Thomas More Prep-Marian cross country team had several top-10 finishers at the Larned Invitational on Tuesday.

In the girls junior/senior race, Emily Schippers and Julia Werth were fourth and fifth, posting respective times of 23:20 and 23:20.7. Among freshmen and sophomore runners, Kyleigh Allen was fourth (23:14.2) and Abby Rueschoff was fifth (24.46).

In the boys junior/senior race, Sheldon Weber was third (19:01.2) and Jared Mayers was seventh (19:22.9).
