TOPEKA — The Class 5A regional tennis tournament for the Newton High School girls' team has been moved to Friday because of impending rain forecast for Saturday. The tournament is at Valley Center.

Halstead sweeps

LINDSBORG — The Halstead High School volleyball team claimed a pair of wins Tuesday at Lindsborg.

Halstead downed host Smoky Valley 25-13, 18-25, 26-24 in Central Kansas League play; and Southeast of Saline 25-9, 25-21 in non-league play.

Halstead is 27-8, 5-3 in CKL play, and plays Lyons and Skyline Tuesday at Skyline.

Hesston spikers

fell to Cowley

HESSTON — The Hesston College volleyball team fell to Cowley College Wednesday in Jayhawk Conference East play.

Hesston fell 25-14, 25-16, 25-17.

Kylee Kasselman led Hesston with seven kills. Faith Hallmark set 15 assists. Kasselman had 14 digs.

Cowley’s stats were not listed.

Cowley improves to 21-4, 6-0 in conference play.

Hesston is 9-11, 2-3 in district play, and hosts Independence Community College at 4 p.m. Friday.
