GREAT BEND — The Thomas More Prep-Marian girls golf team punched its ticket to state in emphatic fashion, winning the Hoisington regional on Wednesday at Lake Barton Golf Club in Great Bend.

Defending Class 3-2-1A state champion Shannen Chin bounced back from an 11 on hole 3 to win the tournament with a 94, four strokes better than Maleigha Schmidt of Hoisington. It was Chin's third consecutive regional title. 

The Monarchs, who qualified as a team for state for the fifth straight year, won the regional by 23 strokes over Hoisington while Cimarron also advanced to state by finishing third.

The Class 3-2-1A state tournament will be held on Monday at Emporia Municipal Golf Course. 

Jenna Romme placed fifth for TMP at 102 and Haleigh Spray was eighth with 110.  Other scores for TMP were Avin Inlow's 113, Abby Heimerman's 130 and Annie Wasinger's 131.

There were eight schools and 38 golfers participating.
