Chapman 38, Hesston 28

CHAPMAN — The Hesston High School football team gave up three unanswered touchdowns in the second half, falling to Chapman 38-28 in Class 3A district play in Chapman.

Hesston led 28-16 at the half, but trailed 30-28 after three quarters and gave up another touchdown in the fourth quarter.

Chapman’s Dalton Harvey rushed 26 times for 245 yards and three touchdowns. Izek Jackson and Mitchell Tiller each added a rushing touchdown.

Hesston was led by Cameron Cox, who had 27 carries for 135 yards and two touchdowns. Cox also hit 18 of 27 passes for 142 yards with two interceptions. Parker Roth added 88 yards on 16 carries with two touchdowns.

Chapman improves to 6-1, 3-1 in district play. Hesston falls to 4-3, 2-2 in distict play, and hosts Clay Center Friday to end the regular season.

Smoky Valley 20, Halstead 14

LINDSBORG — Lane Schrag scored on a four-yard run with 1:22 remaining in regulation to lead Smoky Valley to a 20-14 win over Halstead Friday in Class 3A district play.

The win puts the Vikings at 7-0 overall and 4-0 in district play, clinching the district title and a home playoff game.

Smoky Valley also clinches a share of the Central Kansas League title.

Tim Lambert finished with 27 carries for 103 yards. Cort Elliott had 23 carries for 91 yards and two touchdowns.

Halstead led 14-6 at the half and 14-12 after three quarters.

Braden Gerber had nine carries for 62 yards and a touchdown for Halstead. Gerber also hit six of eight passes for 68 yards. Scott Grider was held to 46 yards rushing, but did score a touchdown. Grider had 29 yards receiving.

Halstead falls to 4-3 overall, 2-3 in CKL play and 2-2 in district play. Halstead hosts Chapman at 7 p.m. Friday, a must-win game for the Dragons to have a shot at post-season play.

CLAFLIN — Unbeaten Central Plains needed just a half to stop Moundridge 52-0 Friday in district play in Claflin.

The game was called at halftime on the 45-point rule. The Oilers held the ball for just under five minutes.

Lawson Oeser rushed for 126 yards on just four carries with two touchdowns. Alex Hickel, Jarred Bieberle and Mason Wimmer each added a rushing touchdown. Myles Menges hit five of six passes for 111 yards and two touchdowns.

Moundridge was held to 89 yards total offense. Cody Hazelton had 12 carries for 35 yards.

Central Plains is 7-0, 4-0 in district play. Moundridge falls to 3-4, 2-2 in district play. The Wildcats play Friday at home against rival Little River.
