HUTCHINSON — The Bethel College volleyball team ended the season with a three-set loss to Southwestern Friday in the KCAC post-season tournament in Hutchinson.

Bethel fell 25-20, 25-17, 25-11.

Kiralyah Jones led Southwestern with 16 kills. Catabrean Baumann set 29 assists. Hayleigh Moreno served two aces. Emily White had 10 digs. Alyxandra Blaker downed two blocks.

For Bethel, Nicole Klusener had seven kills and 15 digs. Kaylee VanderVeen set 12 assists. Klusener, Sage Westerfield and Jordyn Allen each downed two blocks.

Bethel ends the season 6-21. The Threshers lose just three seniors off the varsity roster — Avery Myatt, Taylor Buessing and Rachel Bustillos.

KANSAS CITY, Kan. — The Hesston College women’s basketball team fell to North Central Missouri College 65-60 Friday in the Kansas City, Kan., Community College Classic.

The Larks trailed 17-11 after the first quarter, but pulled within one at the half, 32-31. The Larks led 46-43 after three quarters, but gave up a 22-14 fourth quarter.

Haley Burroughs led NCMC with 27 points and 11 rebounds. Karissa Baber and Dymeria Gullory each added 11 points.

Essance Tolson led Hesston with 15 points with 11 rebounds. Denazia Jeffers added 12 points.

Hesston is 1-3 and plays St. Louis Community College at noon today at KCKCC.

HESSTON — The Hesston College men’s basketball team improved to 4-1 with a 96-75 win over the Bethany junior varsity.

Hesston led 47-34 at the half. The Larks outshot Bethany 53 percent to 38 percent. Hesston hit 13 of 26 from the 3-point line.

Cal Hartley led Hesston with 27 points, hitting 11 of 17 from the field and five of nine from 3-point range. Grant Harding scored 22 points, hitting nine of 12 from the field. Derrick Magiya scored 14 points. Harding had nine rebounds, followed by Magiya with eight.

Dalantae Kelly scored 15 points for Bethany, followed by D’Mitri Newson with 12 and Austin Sanchez with 11.

Hesston hosts Neosho Community College at 8 p.m. Tuesday to open Jayhawk Conference play.
