Seeking a swift end to doubt about the accuracy and reliability of Ellis County's voting machines, outgoing 111th District Rep. Eber Phelps is extending an invitation to Republican Barb Wasinger.

Phelps, in a letter emailed to local media this afternoon, said the issue can be resolved economically and in a matter of hours if Ellis County Clerk Donna Maskus will turn over voting machine data to national voting machine expert Duncan Buell.

Wasinger was declared the official winner of the 111th District seat in the Nov. 6 General Election by 35 votes. But Democratic voters and the Phelps campaign have expressed doubt that all votes were counted.
