Hays police are investigating more than a dozen reports of vehicle vandalism that occurred overnight Thursday or Friday on the east side of Hays.
Hays Police Chief Don Scheibler said Friday afternoon officers were investigating 13 cases of slashed tires and vehicles and trailers that had profane language and images spray painted in purple. Scheibler said a couple of reports came in after the department posted about the incidents on Facebook.
“It’s all pretty consistent and in the same area,” Scheibler said.
All the incidents occurred in the 2500 blocks of Marjorie, Henry and Felten drives. Damages are estimated at thousands of dollars, according to the HPD Facebook post.
Police are checking for businesses in the area for security video.
“We ask for their cooperation if they do have a camera system in that area and have something that may assist us, we’d be happy to take that information,” Scheibler said.
Anyone with information can call HPD at 785-625-1030.
“We would take any assistance. The big thing is that it was purple spray paint,” Scheibler said.
