Amanda Atkisson, Stockton, has joined Via Christi Village in Hays as the executive director. She graduated from Kansas State University in 2008 with a bachelor's degree in family studies and human services with a secondary major in gerontology. A Downs native, Atkisson has worked in long-term care for more than a decade with direct hands-on responsibilities. She obtained her adult care home license in 2008 and has worked as an administrator since. She has been a regional vice president for the Kansas Health Care Association Board for three years and was granted a mentor/preceptor license with the Kansas Adult Care Home Executives allowing her to mentor and train individuals who are interested in obtaining their License. Atkisson completed her administrator-in-training program with Dawn Veh of Wesley Towers in Hutchinson and most previously was employed with Golden Living Centers in Downs.

Dustin McWhirter has joined the firm of Waddell & Reed as a financial adviser in the Hays area. McWhirter will help develop customized financial plans, recommend investment strategies and counsel clients. McWhirter earned a bachelor's degree in finance from Fort Hays State University.
