Two arrested for counterfeit bills
The Hays Police Department arrested two people linked to a local surge in counterfeit bills.
Sarah Leiker, 24, Hays, was apprehended Monday after she allegedly tried to get change for a counterfeit bill, according to a report issued by Chief Don Scheibler. The police's investigation led to the arrest of Michael Hawkins, 25, Hays, according to the report.
The main bills being counterfeited are $5, $10 and $20 denominations, according to the report.
The Hays Police Department wants anyone who suspects they have encountered a counterfeit bill to call (785) 625-1030.
