Emprise will raze 27th location, build new
Special to the HDN
Emprise Bank announced this week it has sold the building at 1200 Main that houses its downtown Hays location.
The sale officially closes Monday.
The buyer, Chestnut Building LLC is comprised of a group of local investors.
The group has expressed the intention to maintain the architectural integrity of the building. Emprise will rent the space for their downtown location until construction is complete at its 27th Street branch.
Wichita-based Emprise also has altered plans announced earlier this year for a significant remodel and expansion at 1011 E. 27th. Instead, the building will be torn down and a new full-service facility will be built on the same site.
Employees of the east branch will be moved to the downtown and west locations, as a temporary location will not be set up during construction of the new branch.
Construction dates have not yet been established.
"We are glad to be moving forward with the sale of the downtown building, especially with a local group on the other end of the deal," said Wayne Woofter, Hays president of Emprise Bank. "But we are thrilled to announce the plans for a brand new facility on Vine Street that will give our customers a great destination for their banking experience."
