Sheridan County bridge work begins next week
Special to the HDN
As early as Monday, a project to replace two bridges along U.S. Highway 24 in Sheridan County will begin.
Both bridges are located approximately 8 miles east of Hoxie on U.S. 24, and span the South Fork River. The two structures are located within 1.5 miles of one another, and the work zones will encompass that area.
The work includes grading, bridge reconstruction and resurfacing at both locations. Once the bridge reconstruction phase starts, lane closures in both directions will occur over both structures. Traffic will be redirected onto temporary detours located along the south side of each bridge site.
KDOT awarded both construction contracts, totaling $3.8 million, to King Construction Inc, Hesston.
Weather permitting, these combined construction projects will be complete by fall of 2014.
