Lincoln Elementary School was placed on lockdown for approximately 30 minutes this morning.

At approximately 9:20 a.m., Principal Elaine Rohleder was contacted by Hays Police Department about an incident two blocks south of the school, according to Elizabeth Jaeger, USD 489 coordinator of information. The incident involved a woman who was considered potentially suicidal, according to Hays Police Chief Don Scheibler.

Exterior doors were locked at the school, and staff was instructed not to go outside for recess or any other reason. Students and staff continued with activities inside the building.

The issue was resolved without incident, Scheibler said.
