Hays police car in accident
At 7:50 a.m. Tuesday, an on-duty Hays Police Department officer rear-ended a motorist in the 300 block of West 27th. An ambulance was dispatched to the accident scene due to the driver of the other vehicle having a headache and neck pain.
The HPD car was towed from the scene, and the officer had a minor injury to his lip, which did not require medical attention.
The Ellis County Sheriff's Department is investigating the accident.
All parties involved were wearing seat belts, HPD said.
