Railroad, local police will eye crossings
Special to the HDN
Union Pacific this week will offer railroad police and members of area law enforcement rides in a locomotive to observe motorists' behavior from a different perspective.
The half-hour rides will be from 7:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Friday.
The effort is part of Union Pacific's attempt to raise awareness of safety at crossings, known as Union Pacific's Crossing Accident Reduction Education and Safety (UP CARES). The initiative promotes railroad grade crossing and pedestrian safety.
