TMP choir members ready to sing for their supper

Anyone growing up in the 1950s through '80s surely can relate to American Bandstand and its host, Dick Clark.
That's why Kathy Dreiling Amrein chose songs from the pop culture TV show for the 2014 dinner theater performed by the TMP Singers.
The school's performance group will perform "American Bandstand" on Feb. 7, 8 and 9 in Dreiling Theater at the school.
The Saturday and Sunday performances will include meals in the school cafeteria prior to the show.
The show, which aired from 1952 to 1989, featured teenagers dancing to Top 40 music introduced by Clark.
"They love it," Amrein said of the TMP Singers, who range from freshmen through seniors. "It's spotlighting certain (music legends) from several (decades) like Elvis, the Beatles, Elton John, Michael Jackson."
One of Amrein's favorites is from her teenage days during the 1970s, "Dust in the Wind," recorded in 1977 by the rock band Kansas.
Tickets are on sale now and can be reserved by calling the school at (785) 625-6577, Amrein at (785) 650-4371 or by contacting any member of the TMP Singers.
The Friday opener, which will feature a 7 p.m. show only, is $10 per person. Saturday's formal dinner and show is $20, with the dinner beginning at 6:30 p.m. and the show to follow. And Sunday's noon meal and show is $15.
The TMP Singers, who perform at various functions and in contests throughout the year, includes 11 males and 10 females for the 2013-14 school year.
Six seniors will be performing in their final dinner show for TMP, including three who are four-year members -- Michael Schulte, Emily Staab and Taylor Wasinger.
